In early February 2022, an initial supply of more than 1.2 million RAT were distributed to NDIS providers delivering SIL supports to participants.
Deliveries were prioritised in terms of higher-risk disability settings to providers who support 3 or more participants in SIL in the first instance.
This is an initial distribution to support participants and providers in managing outbreaks and early detection of COVID-19 as set out in AHPPC guidance .
Other NDIS participants who have core supports can claim RAT costs from their plans and those that have a Commonwealth concession card can access free tests through participating pharmacies, as part of the RAT concession program.
Longer standing arrangements for distribution of RATs is ongoing as the supply increases.
COVID-19 vaccination
All Australians are encouraged to have the free COVID-19 vaccine.
NDIS participants aged 5 and over, their carers and support workers are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.
You are now also eligible for a COVID-19 booster dose if:
you are 18 years and older, and
had your second dose of your primary course of COVID-19 vaccination at least 3 months ago.
The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (ATAGI) has recommended a third dose of a COVID-19 vaccine for people who are severely immunocompromised.
If you have received three primary doses, it is also recommended to have a booster dose three months after your primary course of the vaccine.
The fastest way to book is using the Department of Health Vaccine Clinic Finder .
If you have any questions about the COVID-19 vaccination or booster dose, you should discuss these with your GP or doctor.
